Thriving from the Start: Mental health and loneliness
04 May 2022 12:30 - 13:20
Early careers event: Mental health and loneliness
The focus for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week is loneliness. This relevant for people at the start of their career, as research has shown that a significant number of young professionals are experiencing loneliness at this stage of their life, and this is impacting on mental health. E.g. a study from CMHA and Bupa, revealed that loneliness had impacted on the mental health of 69% of young professionals in the last year.
If you are a young professional, please do join the CMHA’s Thriving From The Start Network for our next event. We will explore:
- What is loneliness and why is it common, especially in the first few years of a career?
- How to recognise it in yourself and in your colleagues / friends?
- What can we do about it?
You will hear personal experiences from other young professionals, as well as and from an expert in this area, Professor Roz Shafran. There will be a chance to ask questions as well, anonymously if you prefer.
This event is also relevant for professionals who are responsible for the wellbeing of people at the start of their career. The CMHA’s Thriving From The Start Network is a free mental health network, which is run by people in their early careers for people in their early careers.
The Thriving from the Start Network is for people who are early in their career, or about to begin a career, and are interested in improving mental health in the workplace. The Network provides an opportunity to connect with others who share the same passion and drive to build mentally healthy workplaces.
