Concern for the mental health and wellbeing of our children and young people is at all time high. One in eight children (3 in every classroom) has a diagnosable mental illness (source ). Join us for a conversation about how we can better understand, protect and support their mental health.

We will hear personal stories and expert insight, with a particular focus on depression, anxiety, trauma, eating disorders and OCD. It is also a chance to learn about the responses and treatments available to help their recovery.

Speakers include:

  • Professor Andrea Danese, The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience, King’s College London - Andrea is a clinical scientist specialising in childhood trauma with expertise in child stress, anxiety and depression
  • Dr Bruce Clark is the Clinical Director for child and adolescent mental health service at The South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. He is a Senior Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, with expertise in   Autism Spectrum Disorders, OCD, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, ADHD, depression, anxiety and behavioural management issues.
  • Gabriella Wickes, Chair of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Committee at Slaughter and May. Gabriella will share her personal story of battling anxiety and anorexia and her recovery journey.

The Pears Maudsley Centre for Children and Young People is a new world-class centre for care and research in children and young people’s mental health, developed in partnership between King’s College London and the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
