The CMHA today announces the appointment of Veda Persad, Country Executive of Northern Trust in India, as Chair of City Mental Health Alliance (CMHA) India.

CMHA India is the latest alliance from the CMHA and will work with businesses in India to develop their approaches to mental health at work.

CMHA India currently has seven founding members, including Northern Trust. These businesses will be collaborating together to share knowledge on how to support employee mental health. By working together these businesses will develop a framework to support companies in India design and implement a mental health strategy.

In her role as Chair, Veda will oversee the governance and strategic direction of the CMHA India Chapter. This includes working with the local programme director in India to oversee the delivery of the member programme and engaging with government, business and mental health organisations to progress the mental health at work agenda in India.

Veda Persad, Country Executive of Northern Trust in India and Chair of City Mental Health Alliance India, said:

“I am proud and honoured to chair the City Mental Health Alliance India as we work together to address mental health challenges across India. I am confident that this organisation will play a key role in supporting companies in addressing workplace mental health as well as provide us with an opportunity to impact our wider communities.”

This announcement is the latest step in the global development of the City Mental Health Alliance. Since first launching in 2012, the CMHA’s model has had such a powerful impact that we now have established alliance chapters in UK, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Portugal and now India.
