The focus of the report, in which MindForward Alliance is named as a supporting organisation, is on addressing the causes of mental health, with particular focus on the societal and environmental factors affecting mental health, addressing the inequalities faced by marginalised groups, including racialised communities and those with long term mental ill health and lastly, ensuring there is adequate provision for mental health support.
The plan focuses on three key areas: prevention, equality and support. The report sets out concrete policies which it is hoped will be adopted as part of a ten-year, cross-government mental health strategy, ideally to begin in the first year of the next parliament. The Centre for Mental Health is calling for all political parties and parliamentary candidates to include these ideas in their manifestos ahead of the next UK General Election.
