New research reveals the keys to building mentally healthy workplaces for city employees.

New research, launched at the CMHA’s Annual Event on 27 November 2017, revealed key insights on how leading businesses in the City of London are creating mentally healthy working environments for their staff.

Based on survey data from 17 CMHA member organisations, the report, Mental health: inside our city workplaces ,  highlights examples of impactful wellbeing initiatives and policies for City workers and some of the key challenges facing employees around mental health.

Members who attended the annual event, held at City Hall, were welcomed by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan and heard from Nigel Jones, CMHA Chair, Paul Farmer CEO Mind, and a panel of experts including Poppy Jaman, CMHA CEO, Dr Gary Belkin, Executive Deputy Commissioner, New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Andrew Jack, Head of Curation and Editor of FT Health, Sally Boyle, Managing Director, Human Capital Management, Goldman Sachs International and Sarah Churchman, Chief Inclusion and Wellbeing Officer, PWC.

Nigel Jones, CMHA Chair commented,

“Today’s report is evidence of the progress and change around mental health in the City that the CMHA has been a catalyst for since it was founded in 2012. We are committed to using the best available evidence to promote wellbeing in the City and provide support where it’s needed, so we are delighted to be publishing our first report of this kind.”

“Our member organisations recognise that their employees undertake challenging work, in fast-paced environments, and because of these factors understand the importance of supporting their wellbeing. The research we have conducted with our members is therefore crucial in sharing and highlighting best practice in these organisations, but also in placing a spotlight on the work still to be done and the gaps we need to close to ensure every City workplace is a mentally healthy one.”
