Leading on mental wellbeing: transforming the role of line managers.

On Thursday 4 February, Time to Talk Day 2016, many of the UK’s top employers attended the launch of the Business in the Community’s (BITC) report ‘Leading on mental wellbeing: Transforming the role of line managers’. The launch event was hosted by the Royal Mail Group and the organisation’s CEO, Moya Greene, made a powerful call to action for employers to start taking action around workplace wellbeing and mental health.

Moya was joined by Shadow Cabinet Minister for Mental Health, Luciana Berger MP; Peter Cheese, Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development (CIPD); Paul Farmer, Chief Executive of mental health charity Mind; Peter Simpson, CEO of Anglian Water; Dr Shaun Davis, Group Director of Safety, Health Wellbeing and Sustainability for Royal Mail Group; Stefan Stern, Director of High Pay Centre and Poppy Jaman, Programme Director for CMHA and CEO of Mental Health First Aid England. Each panellist offered expert opinion on how and why the report’s recommendations should be adopted by employers and advised on how to embed wellbeing into organisational culture using an eight point checklist.  The full report can be found here.
